An aspiring national youth organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. John Boadu, has cautioned the executive of the party not to make any attempt to gag the outspoken member of parliament (MP) for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, Hon. P. C. Appiah Ofori, and prevent him from commenting on issues of national concern. According to him, the NPP MP was an asset to the party and that they needed more people like him to ensure the growth of the party and also keep people on their toes.
"When people like Appiah Ofori steps at a place people over there will begin to sit up, which is good for our party," he added.
Mr. Boadu, who was speaking in an interview with Melody FM, a Takoradi-based private radio station yesterday, said when Jesus Christ came to this world not all the people liked him, therefore he would not be surprised if people disagreed with the behavior of the honorable MP.
The Assin-born Boadu, 34, told his hosts, Messrs. Ekow Shalders and Desmond Cudjoe, that anyone who would always speak the truth and stand by it, would always be hated by people and that this was what the MP was probably suffering from.
"Don't forget that sometimes you will be speaking the truth, but the way you go about it turn to affect people who will obviously not be happy with you", he said, and added that Hon. Appiah Ofori probably has to find ways and means to go about his talking without compromising on the truth.
The aspiring national youth organizer, however, disagreed with P.C. Ofori on some of the allegations he made against the central regional minister, Hon. Isaac Edumadze, saying some of the allegations appeared to be contradictory to what he himself had earlier said.
Hon Appiah Ofori had earlier told the radio station that because NPP saw him as an outspoken person, there was an attempt to disqualify him during the primaries and thus prevent him from contesting his seat on the ticket of the party.
Mr. Boadu, who was on a campaign tour of the Western Region, told the radio station also that it was his determination to rise through the ranks to occupy the highest position in the party in the future.
"When you vote for me, you are giving me the mandate to speak for you and I promise I will never disappoint you," he told his hosts, adding that he was prepared to sacrifice his life for the growth of the party he cherished most.
