Bekwai (Ash), May 26, GNA - Mr Joe Osei-Owusu, the defeated parliamentary aspirant in the Amansie East New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries, has appealed to his supporters not to perceive the delegates who voted against him as enemies. Instead, he said, they should see them as part of the one family fighting for a common course for the growth of the Party.

Mr Osei-Owusu made the appeal at a meeting with over 80 Polling Station chairmen and supporters of the NPP drawn from Amansie East Constituency at Bekwai at the weekend. He said the Constituency remained one of the strongholds of the NPP in Ashanti Region and that any division could result in the decline of votes to the disadvantage of the Party.

Mr Osei-Owusu, enumerating some of his achievements as a former constituency chairman, said during his tenure between 2,000 and 2004, he managed to secure between 88 and 90 per cent of the total ballots cast in the area for the party and said this helped the NPP to chalk a landslide victory. He therefore cautioned the party faithful to be wary of any divisive tendencies, which could erode the gains made by the party over the years. He told the gathering that, his petition to the National Executive Committee (NEC) in respect of the malpractices that characterized the primaries was receiving serious attention and that his supporters should remained calm.
