Despite a stern warning to New Patriotic Party (NPP) executive aspirants not to campaign at this year’s delegates’ conference, some posters have already found their way to the venue.
That of Dr Richard Amoako Baah has been mounted at the East Gate of the University of Cape Coast, the venue for the conference.
Last Tuesday, Acting General Secretary of the NPP John Boadu communicated the Council’s decision to sanction any member who campaigns at the event. He asked all prospective candidates to desist from the act as the ban on campaign for the 2018 national executive elections is still in force.
But 3news.com’s Thomas Vincent Cann was on Thursday greeted with a poster of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Senior Lecturer.
He is said to have declared his intention to contest the National Chairmanship position, which is vacant after the suspension of Paul Afoko. It is occupied by First Vice Chairman Freddie Blay.
There were other posters too at other locations. But most of them only had welcome messages for delegates.
One of the posters is from Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North Constituency Barbara Asher Ayisi, who seems to be welcoming delegates to the Central Region capital.
Dr Amoako Baah’s poster is calling for change with the slogan ‘A Chairman Working Hard For You’.
If his poster is found to have infringed upon the directive of the National Council, the outspoken academic could be sanctioned.
