A lawsuit has been filed by Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene against Wendell Nana Yaw Yeboah of Democracy Hub, accusing him of defamation over comments made during a live radio interview and later circulated on social media.

The minister has also sued Aluta FM and its presenter, Agyaba Owusu, also known as Agyaba Kwaku.

The suit, dated December 4, 2025 and filed by his lawyer Ibrahim Halidu, stems from comments made on November 18, 2025, during the “Anopa Koko” Morning Show on Aluta 92.1 FM, a Madina-based station with a sizeable online audience.

According to the court filings, Wendell Yeboah appeared as a guest on the morning show and “falsely and with malicious intent” alleged that Dr Amoakohene was involved in illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.

The documents also indicated that Yeboah made the allegation in both Twi and English, telling listeners: “Alright, mene wo kasa sesei, the Ashanti Regional Minister is into Galamsey,” and later repeating, “Alright, as I speak with you right now, the Ashanti Regional Minister is into Galamsey.”

Dr Amoakohene insists the accusations were unfounded and aimed at damaging his reputation.

The suit further accuses Aluta 92.1 FM of amplifying the claims by livestreaming the interview on Facebook and subsequently republishing the content.

The minister also alleges that the station produced and circulated a promotional flyer that echoed the allegations.

He argues that these actions caused significant harm to his reputation and subjected him to public ridicule.

He is therefore seeking damages and a full retraction of the statements.

Yeboah, meanwhile, was released from CID custody on December 3, 2025, after spending a week in detention.

His arrest followed his claims on live radio accusing three regional ministers of involvement in galamsey: Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene, and Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson.

His detention was prompted by a petition to the CID filed by Daniel Sasu Omari and two others on behalf of the ministers, calling for a full investigation into the allegations.
