The governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has officially presented his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, to the national officers of the party. The presentation took place today, July 1, 2024, at the party’s headquarters in Asylum Down, Greater Accra Region.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President, introduced Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the current Energy Minister, to the national officers in accordance with the NPP’s Constitution and the consultation for the general acceptance of the flagbearer’s choice of running mate.
This step is necessary to secure the NEC’s endorsement of his choice for the running mate in the upcoming December 2024 elections.
Following this presentation, National Chairman Stephen Ayensu Ntim has called for an emergency meeting of both the National Executive Committee and the National Council.
These meetings are scheduled for Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, with the NEC meeting set for 2:00 pm and the National Council meeting at 3:00 pm.
