Dr Mahama Making significant waves in Eastern Region

Tue, 23 Sep 2008 Source: --

The leader and Flag bearer of the PNC, Dr Edward Mahama stormed the Eastern Region on Friday 19 September and began a four day tour of the region amidst cheering Ghanaian supporters per village and hamlet that he stopped.

The PNC “micro-campaign” strategy has been widely appreciated by every community. The campaign which touched Nsawam, Suhum, Adaeso, Nkawkaw, Abetifi, Tease, Dokokrom amongst several was accompanied by the Gen Sec, Bernard Mornah, Publicity Chairman, Henry Asante, National Women’s Organiser, Hajia Hajara Boya, Alhaji Yakubu Eastern Regional Secretary etc. At Tease, Dr. Mahama paid a courtesy call on the Chief and Elders who praised his humility and style of politics.

Dr Mahama at every stop emphasized the need for a change in attitudes towards a prosperous Ghana; he assured that as a policy, the PNC will continue with all viable investments, programmes and projects that are currently in place with a commitment to make them better than inherited. He chastises the incumbent government rather than solve the problems of Ghana for their persistent reference to the previous government for the economic morass that Ghana finds herself.

Dr. Mahama said that, the mitigation measures announced by President Kufour have only exacerbated the hardship of Ghanaian farmers whose produce now appear expensive.

The Gen. Sec Bernard Mornah, said that Ghana was pregnant with uncountable problems of unemployment, poor quality education, collapse of agric and basic farm implements, poor or absent health care and now confronted with rural armed robbery and licentious sex. He likened the situation to a pregnant woman that can only be delivered by a Doctor. Therefore, pregnant Ghana can only be delivered by a Doctor and only Doctor Mahama.

Dr Mahama at a meeting with party enthusiasts and admirers in Maame Krobo a farming community in the Afram plains of the eastern region explained that Ghana has the potential of ensuring absolute food security for herself and even have excess to export rather than having to always rely on other countries for food aid. This he said acknowledging the fact that, Maame Krobo produces food stuffs ranging from maize to yam in appreciable and impressive quantities.

He noted that as a commitment to actualizing this dream of achieving food security in the country, a PNC government will do to yam and other crop farmers what we do to cocoa farmers. He also said that, Dr. Edward Mahama and the PNC will make sure that farmers have guaranteed prices for their produce so as prevent losses and thus encourage them to produce more. The people promised him their support asserting that they are convinced it in him and the PNC that their redemption lies since the NPP has come to worsen their conditions.

The General Secretary Mr. Bernard Mornah in addressing the people said the country is pregnant with problems of education, employment, security and peace. And that if a woman is pregnant, she needs a doctor most especially a gynaecologist to deliver her. Therefore Ghana needs a political gynecologist with the ideas to deliver Ghana of her numerous problems. “That person is none other than Dr. Edward Nasigre Mahama” he stated.

He ended with a paradox namely; the Ghana Black Stars danced the kangaroo dance as an inspiration to achieve their “host and win” dream but ended in a third position. Similarly, the NPP is dancing the same dance as the host party in this contest. What this then means is that; they are heading towards third position the exhilarated crowd intoned.

He therefore urged them to vote massively for their future and that is the PNC.
