Ho, Nov. 27, GNA- Mr John Ameka, Deputy General Secretary of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) at the weekend commended Dr. Obed Asamoah, Patron of the party for the bold step he took to leave the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He said though a stalwart of the NDC, Dr. Asamoah, realized that, that party could not provide the platform for realizing his vision and mission for the country.
Mr Ameka made the commendation at the inauguration of the Ho Polytechnic and School of Hygiene chapters of the Tertiary Education Students Forum of the DFP (TESFORD) in Ho.
He said like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah who left the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) to form the Convention People's Party (CPP) and led Ghana to attain her political independence, so would Dr. Asamoah through the DFP lead the country to attain economic independence. Mr Ameka said the DFP was bent on changing the politics in the country where, "democracy of abuses, politics of lies and deceit and the stolen verdict would be things of the past".
He appealed to Ghanaians "not to allow themselves to be perpetually tied to the apron strings of any political party". Mr Prince Dereck Adjei, National Youth Organiser of the party said the leadership of the country was not maximizing its abundant human and natural resources, instead "our leaders talk big", and that "talk is good but action is better".
Mr Adjei said Ghana could aspire to greater heights, not only by becoming a middle-income country, but a developed one under the DFP. Mr Brown Banu, a member of the Promoters Council of the party said the problem of the country was leadership, which "the DFP has come as a unifying force to deliver to the people and take them from the economic bondage. The 14-member Ho Polytechnic chapter of TESFORD has Mr Solomon Sefakor Deku as President with Mr Samuel Sapatey being elected President of the School of Hygiene chapter of the TESFORD. 27 Nov. 07
