Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
A stalwart of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adane Kwarteng Jonathan, is advocating for the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to select the Energy Minister and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, as his running mate.
According to him, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh's experience, expertise, and dedication to public service align seamlessly with the objectives and priorities of the NPP, making him the ideal person for the task.
Mr. Jonathan believes the former Education Minister is the most suitable choice to partner with Dr. Bawumia as the party's running mate.
"Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has demonstrated exceptional competence in various roles, making him the ideal candidate for the running mate position," he said in a press release cued to OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng on Wednesday, June 21, 2024.
Mr. Jonathan further described NAPO as "Bold and Decisive; his assertive nature makes him unconventional compared to what is ordinarily perceived of our politicians as ‘sweet talkers’. NAPO is blunt and highly trustworthy."
He noted that the challenging task of 'breaking the eight' requires not just a candidate who adds to the numbers but one with a proven track record and the capacity to deliver results.
