The runnning mate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, known widely as NAPO, has hit back at former President John Dramani Mahama over attempts to ridicule Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s analogy.

He described the flagbearer of the NPP Dr. Mahamudu Bwumia as a better candidate and the best choice for Ghanaians ahead of the 2024 polls.

In a video sighted on Twitter now called X, NAPO was seen campaigning and projecting the current flagbearer, Dr Bawumia as the right choice to be voted for.

According to NAPO in explaining the driver’s mate analogy, a driver’s mate can be better than the driver who trained him. He mentioned that some mates are better off than some drivers.

NAPO stated that some drivers are liars useless and also thieves hence the driver’s mate is better off than the corrupt driver.

NAPO further made a comparison between the two political parties (NDC and NPP) who have been in power for 8 years each and said that the ruling party has performed better than the opposition party.

“Do you know most mates are better than their master, the drivers who taught them how to drive? If you are a mate and you learn your job well, don’t you graduate to the next level? Some master drivers are useless, thieves and a liar”, he subtly jabbed Mahama.

“Other masters can be God-fearing, he won’t deceive you, he will grow the economy. God intentionally gave power to the NDC for 8 years and gave the NPP 8 years also so you can do your own comparison. Who introduced NHIS? Who introduced Free Senior High School? Who introduced free maternal care? Who introduced scholarships for the physically challenged? So, what else do you want?”, he wondered.

It would be recalled that during the first major speech as flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the UPSA auditorium in Accra while unveiling his vision, described himself as the mate of the bus.

He stressed that despite being the driver’s mate if he is made the President, he will be in the driver’s seat with constitutionally mandated authority to pursue his vision and his priorities.

Former President John Dramani Mahama has made political mincemeat out of the statement suggesting the current Vice President is trying to absolve himself of blame from the current economic quagmire.
