Gifty Twum Ampofo being sworn in
The Eastern Regional Branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sent well-wishing messages to Gifty Twum Ampofo, the new Member of Parliament (MP) for who was sworn into parliament on Tuesday May 17.
Madam Twum was inducted by the Speaker of Parliament, Doe Adjaho, before parliament commenced for the day after the house resumed business after several weeks’ break.
She was elected MP for Abuakwa North constituency in a by-election organised by the Electoral Commission on March 29, 2016.
The Abuakwa North constituency by-election became necessary following the death of the incumbent MP, JB Danquah-Adu, who was killed in his house last month.
The late JB Danquah-Adu was stabbed to death at his residence at Shiashie in Accra by a suspect identified as Daniel Asiedu, who is currently in police custody.
The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) did not participate in the by-election as a sign of respect for the late MP.
After the induction, Mr Adjaho advised Mrs Boafo to step into the shoes of her predecessor (J.B. Danquah-Adu), exhibiting his peaceful demeanour and unifying approach to matters.
Shortly after her swearing-in, the regional branch of the party issued a statement to congratulate her.
The statement, which was signed by the Eastern Regional Communications Director of the party, David Prah, indicated that it was their belief that she “will provide a renewed confidence in the people and will continue with the massive development-oriented representation that her predecessor offered”.

CONGRATULATIONS: GIFTY TWUM AMPOFO ON YOUR SWEARING IN AS MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR ABUAKWA NORTH CONSTITUENCY
The Eastern Regional Branch of the New Patriotic Party wish to congratulate Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo, popularly known as Hajia Kande, on having been sworn in today as the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency.
We also take this opportunity to congratulate the people of Abuakwa North for reaffirming their belief in the NPP and voting for Mrs Twum-Ampofo.
It is our belief that the Hon Twum-Ampofo will provide a renewed confidence in the people and will continue with the massive development-oriented representation that her predecessor offered.
We take this opportunity to call on the Attorney General to expedite action on the prosecution of the key suspects and others connected to the gruesome murder of our beloved Former Member of Parliament Hon. J. B. Dankwa Adu so as to bring justice to his family, the good people of Abuakwa North, the entire Eastern Region and Ghana.
We wish Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo, Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North well.
