Dr. Omane Boamah, Director of Elections for the New Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that the Electoral Commission (EC) is scared of granting the party access to the final voters register.

He claimed that the electoral authority is unwilling to hand over the register because it is concerned that the party would discover other problems in the voters' register.

Dr. Boamah stated that it is sad that the EC has neglected to produce the register, raising the basic question of a free, fair, and credible election on December 7, 2024.

Dr. Boamah expressed the NDC’s unhappiness, stating that the party had submitted many requests for final voter registration, but the EC had not responded satisfactorily.

He said this during a meeting on Monday, September 23, 2024, with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and other stakeholders.

“The EC has not released the final voter’s register to the political party, but it claims it has resolved all our (NDC) concerns without knowing them.

“But they can’t start printing the register without giving us a copy. I feel they are afraid to release the register to us because they don’t know what more discrepancies we will expose,” he said.

He also maintained that the forensic audit, as proposed by the NDC, was the only process to guarantee a credible register.

He said the discrepancies in the register are a lot, including over 243,000 illegal names on the list of transferred voters.
