Ahomahomaso (E/R), May 15, GNA - An appeal has gone to the Electoral Commission (EC) to permit non-photo identity card holders to exercise their franchise in the December Parliamentary and Presidential elections.
The assemblyman for Ahomahomasu electoral area in the Fanteakwa District, Mr Joseph Naretey made the appeal when newsmen went round to ascertain the progress of the just ended photo taking exercise in the town. He said the situation where one camera was put at a central point for registered voters from six polling stations to travel and take the photograph would never allow all registered voters to be captured. He said the failure of the EC to provide sufficient cameras to each polling station as was done before the 2000 elections would denied a great number of registered voters the chance to cast their votes. He appealed to the EC to permit all registered voters, who could not take the passport photograph before the elections to use their voters registration slips to cast their votes in December, since their inability to possess photo ID card was not their making but that of the
