EC fixes June 29 for Upper Dekyira by-election

Accra, May 13, GNA - The Electoral Commission (EC) would conduct a bye-election in the Upper Denkyyira Constituency on Tuesday, June 29 to elect a new Member of Parliament (MP) to replace the late Mr Charles Omar Nyanor.
The Commission has given notice that nomination of candidates shall take place at the office of the Returning Officer, Dunkwa-On-Offin, on Wednesday, June 2 and Thursday, June 3, between 0900 hours and 1200 noon and 1400 hours and 1700 hours each day.
A release from the EC, issued in Accra and signed by Mr Kwadwo Sarfo-Kantanka, Deputy Chairman in Charge of Operations, said nomination forms could be obtained from the Returning Officer in Dunkwa-On-Offin.
It said every nomination must be proposed and seconded by two registered voters and supported by 18 other registered voters from the Constituency and the consent of the candidate must be endorsed thereon. The nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer with the required deposit of 200,000 cedis (Bank Draft) and two clear and recent postcard photographs (bust) in colour with red background.
