A member of the National Communications Team of the NDC, Henry Osei Akoto, has expressed frustrations with the Electoral Commission over its perceived failure to address concerns raised during the Special Voting election.

Speaking in an interview on Nhyira FM on December 4, 2024, Osei Akoto lamented that the EC has yet to address pertinent concerns such as delays in the distribution of electoral materials, issues with indelible ink, and the poor storage of biometric devices recorded in some constituencies.

According to him, issues of this nature should not be taken lightly, as they could undermine the credibility of the polls if not addressed before Saturday’s polls.

“The Electoral Commission should wake up and address the concerns about the indelible ink, delays in the distribution of electoral materials, and the poor storage of BVDs,” he said.

Osei Akoto’s comments come in the wake of some concerns raised and recorded in some parts of the country during the Special Voting exercise on Monday, December 2, 2024.

The voting process in some polling stations including the Krowor constituency delayed due to the late arrival of electoral materials.

The Returning Officer of the constituency, Benedict Clottey told GhOne that although they had to hold on a bit, voting eventually continued unimpeded.

“The delay was a result of lateness in reporting by one of the candidates who also had a key but as at 7 o’clock, the ballot papers were out so we had to take our time to count them to authenticate if what we received is what we still have in the box,” Mr. Clottey disclosed.
