Mr. Lawrence Boateng, Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, says the Commission should not be blamed for the unenthusiastic response to the voter exhibition exercise.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that it had done the best it could, and adequately publicized the activity.

He said what was happening reflected the general attitude of Ghanaians, who would often wait until the eleventh hour before rushing to get things done.

Mr. Boateng hinted that the EC, as usual, would provide the opportunity for new registration and voter exhibition, within the next two years.

He urged those who had lost their voter identification cards to remain calm, as the Commission would organize an exercise for replacement of such cards.

People with their names in the multiple registration file could be heading for trouble as they would be handed over to the police, he added.

The turn-out of voters at the exhibition centres that ended on Thursday in the region was largely unimpressive.
