Accra, Jan. 16 GNA - The National Executives of the EGLE Party on Friday congratulated President John Evans Atta Mills on his assumption of office as the third President of the 4th Republic. A statement signed by Alhaji Alhasan Bene, Chairman of the EGLE Party, said the party acknowledged the resolve of God in crowning Prof. Atta Mills as President of Ghana in view of the nature of the polling contest that saw him being declared the winner against odds. The party wished President Atta Mills God's guidance in his stewardship of the nation and prayed that the Almighty would also grant him wisdom to discharge his functions with excellence. The party said it had noticed with reservation the attempt by certain "agents provocateur" in the media who had already embarked on "an infantile politicking" to stampede the President by unnecessary calls for unrealistic actions.

The statement appealed to such agents in the media to exercise extreme caution for the President and allow him to discharge his functions in peace and in consonance with constitutional prescriptions. The EGLE Party also urged the President not to be perturbed or distracted by such "irrational provocations" but to remain focused and concentrate on his functions in uniting the country towards progressive development and in accordance with the direction of God and the dictates of the Constitution.
