As part of effort to gain power in 2016, the Eastern Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have paid courtesy calls on the paramount chiefs in the region.
The team was led by the newly-elected Chairman, Kinston Okomeng Kissi, a two term Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia.
Mr Ohemeng Kissi hinted that there was the need to quicken up actions in order to win more seats for the party in the region.
Their first call was made at the President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori-Panin, the Okyenhene at the Ofori-Panin Fie, Kyebi.
The team was welcomed by the Abontendomhene of Kyebi, Osabarima Kyeretwie Boakye Dankwa who congratulated the executives for their victory and charged them to work hard.
He advised them not to enrich themselves but rather seek to use their positions in helping to alleviate suffering of the ordinary Ghanaian.
Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori-Panin said he knows that the newly-elected chairmen would work hard to redeem the image of the NPP in the region.
He said the leaders of the party in the region should continue to follow in the footsteps of selfless and dedicated leaders like Dr J.B. Dankwa, D.S. Dombo and Prof Kofi Busia.
The Okyenhene stated that 85 percent of Ghanaians were suffering and there was the need to think about them.
The team then moved to the Kwahu, where they met Nana Asiedu Agyeman III who doubles as Abetifihene and Adontenhene of Kwahu Tradional Area in his palace at Abetifi.
He advised leaders to refrain from participating in radio discussions that would not promote peace and unity in the party.
“See to it that no member of the party your communication team indulges in insult on any radio platform but discussions that will promote party unity,” Nana Agyeman III advised the Regional Communications Director of the party, David Prah.
At Abene, the paramount seat of Kwahumanhene, the late Nana Akuamoah Boateng, Nana Fredua Ofori-Atta, regional second vice chairman, expressed their condolence to the Kwahuman for the painful loss of the Omanhene.
Nana Simpe Owiredu, Krontihene of Kwahu Traditional Area expressed worry on the depreciation of the cedi and called for drastic action from government and opposition leaders to help salvage the economy.
He advised the executives to unite with the old executives for victory.
The Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Professor (Emeritus) Nana Oti Boateng presented a book he had just written entitled ‘Unity in Development’, Volume one, to Mr Okomeng Kissi.
