Eight candidates to contest Mfantseman East and West seats

Saltpond (C/R), Oct. 24, GNA - Eight candidates have filed their nomination papers to contest the December Parliamentary Election in the Mfantseman East and Mfantseman West Constituencies. Mr John Mensah, Mfantseman District Electoral Officer, told Ghana News Agency at Saltpond that, after close of nominations last Thursday, Mr George Kuntu Blankson, a former District Chief Executive for the area had filed papers to contest the election on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr Kwamena Amoasi-Andoh, a Financial Analyst and Mr Charles Kojo Imbeah, a Lawyer were contesting on the tickets of New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Convention People's Party (CPP), respectively, in the Mfantseman East Constituency.

Mr Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, a Deputy Minister of Information and Mr Jojo Bruce Quansah, Editor of the Ghanaian Palaver filed their papers to contest on the tickets of NPP and NDC, respectively.

The Electoral Officer said nomination papers for two candidates, Mr Abdul G. Abdallah, a Teacher, who was contesting on the ticket of People's National Convention (PNC), Mr Victor Baidoo, Salesman, an Independent Candidate, had their nominations accepted provisionally pending the submission of Income Clearance Certificates.

Mr. Mensah congratulated the candidates and advised them to conduct their campaigns in a peaceful manner in order not to disturb the peace the nation was enjoying.
