The election of new polling station executives of the New Patriotic Party has been postponed. This was to have taken place on Friday the 25th, Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th of this month.
The postponement has been necessitated as a result of the by-election taking place at Chereponi where most of the NPP MPs will be polling station executives. The NPP MPs form part of the Polling Station Election Committee (PESC) who will supervise the election of polling station executives across the country.
The 2nd, 3rd and 4th of October are the new dates set for the election of the polling station executives.Notice of election has been given and displayed at the usual meeting place of the NPP members in the various polling stations. Prior to the election of polling station executives, a compilation of polling station registers of NPP members at every polling station in the country was done between Thursday the 10th of September 2009 and Sunday the 20th of September 2009.
The dates scheduled for the election of constituency, regional and national executives of the party remain unchanged. One of the amendments to the NPP constitution at its recently held National Delegates conference extended power to polling station executives tin the choosing of the party’s flagbearer for Presidential elections.
In all 115,020 polling station executives will vote in the choosing of the party’s flagbearer for the 2012 elections at congress next year.
