Ajumako Osedze (C/R), Aug. 24, GNA - Miss Georgina Yeboah, Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has appealed to the electorate not to be apathetic in voting during the forthcoming district level election, since it is the triumph card for their development.
Miss Yeboah urged those who had decided not to participate in the upcoming district level elections to rescind their decision. She made the appeal at a forum on social auditing, organised by the District Directorate of the NCCE at Ajumako Osedze in the Central Region.
Miss Yeboah said it was wrong for the electorate to demand favours from candidates contesting elections since that made it difficult for the electorate to demand accountability from the elected. "You cannot eat your cake and have it," the Director stated. Miss Yeboah advised the electorate to opt for persons who could seek their interest and cautioned against voting on "whom you know basis".
She told them not to end their contributions to the democratisation process at the polling stations but to ensure that their representatives worked for improvement of their living conditions. The District Director cautioned against sitting on the fence and expecting that the representative had a magic wand to conjure their well being.
