The Ellembelle District Assembly has refuted media reports that a market shed project commissioned for the people of Bomoakpole, was built with funds from the District Assembly's Common Fund.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle, Mr. Daniel K. Eshun raised the concern in respond to reports by some governance institutions which accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of incumbency abuse ahead of the December elections.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Nkroful on Monday, Mr. Eshun said the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah used his lobbying powers to solicit for funds to undertake the project at Bomoakpole.
The Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD) and the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), recently alleged that the NDC was using state resources to campaign ahead of the December elections.
The report "accused Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAS) of allowing MPs to hijack district assemblies Common Fund projects as personal initiative and partisan gains" in which Bomoakpole in the Ellembelle district was cited for the completion of the market shed, which the DCE said started in 1994 by the indigenes of the town but stalled due to financial constraints.
Mr. Eshun advised the organisations to do their home work well and correct the wrong perception created out there to deceive the public.
He said an MP who had the development of the people at heart, could move all out using his influence to present proposals and solicited for funds to initiate projects to improve the living standard of his people.
