Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue, 2024 Parliament Candidate for Essikadu-Ketan
The 2024 Parliament Candidate of the New Patriotic Party for the Essikadu-Ketan Constituency, Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue, has given a firm assurance that the Eshiem road will undergo significant rehabilitation works before the year ends.
He explained that with the government's plan to resource Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies with road construction machinery, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly is well-positioned to work on the Eshiem road.
The Eshiem Road, which is in the free zone enclave of Sekondi-Takoradi, opens up to one of the most thriving industrial hubs in the metropolis, with over fifteen large-scale manufacturing and import companies sprawling on both ends.
Despite its economic significance, it is also one of the worst roads, traversing over 20 communities, most of whose residents are farmers.
In the past three years, there have been six separate demonstrations by angry residents, yet the road continues to deteriorate despite assurances from duty-bearers.
Charles Bissue is aware of the numerous cases of assurance but insists that "my word is my bond" and will do all he can to ensure the road is given a facelift.
During a tour of some communities along the Eshiem Road, Charles Bissue empathized with residents who have to contend with the uncomfortable experience of using the road daily.
"On several occasions, I have had to use the road myself, and I must say, the experience is not a pleasant one. That is why I am committing to ensuring it is worked on."
“The government has procured road construction machines for all MMDAs, and all operators have been vetted and will soon commence work. I can say for certain that one of the top priority roads to be worked on is the Eshiem Road.
During the 2020 general elections, the governing New Patriotic Party lost significant votes in Essikadu-Ketan, and the state of the Eshiem Road was one of the reasons, as revealed in a post-election analysis.
This renewed assurance from Charles Bissue and whether it will be followed through could have a major impact on his electoral chances.
