Meanwhile the Vice-Presidential aspirant of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Ms. Eva Naa Merley Lokko, has urged Ghanaians to vote for ‘true change’ in December to turn the fortunes of the country around for the better.
“The true change that would see the transformation of the country would come with the election into power of the PPP to execute its policies which seeks to bring the best and turn the fortunes of the country around,” she said.
Ms. Lokko who was addressing the Muslim Chief of Tunga, Alhaji Sofo Baako, and his elders as part of her campaign tour aimed at making the party visible at the grassroots also encouraged Ghanaians to have the future of the country at heart as they go to cast their votes on December
“A vote for the PPP is a vote that displays your patriotism and your desire to see the country being run by a party that seeks to use the best human resources we have to administer the country…we are here to bring unity and offer a governance of inclusiveness…,” she noted.
Ms. Lokko who could not fathom why the country had abundant resources but lacked in many sectors of her economy urged Ghanaians to elect into power a competent administration that is capable of executing policies that would relieve Ghanaians of the hardship bedeviling the country.
She said the sight of children wandering about the streets of the country due to a lack in access to education has motivated the PPP to implement as a matter of urgency its policy of Free, Compulsory and Continuous education. This form of Education, she said would be tied to job creation to curb unemployment in the country.
“A PPP government led by Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom and Eva Lokko would not just create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth, and offer quality education linked to the job market but would also implement policies that would add value to the raw materials of the country and also offer quality healthcare that would be accessible and affordable to all.”
The Muslim Chief who could not find words to thank the PPP delegation for calling on him encouraged the party to stick to its policies of embarking on a clean campaign to help maintain the peace of the country.
“We would like to assure you and your delegation of our support for you and your parliamentary aspirant, and we encourage you to fight to maintain the peace of the country…,” Alhaji Sofo Baako said through an interpreter.
The PPP delegation which included its party Chairman, Nii-Allottey Brew-Hammond, National Women’s Coordinator, Belinda Bulley, and the PPP Parliamentary aspirant for Ablekuma West in the Greater Accra Region, Perry Senyo Ahiadzro, also paid courtesy calls on the Damba Chief of Dansoman where the party assured them of peace in the 2012 elections and beyond.
The Delegation also commissioned polling station executives from seven polling stations in the constituency and tasked them to work assiduously and communicate to voters the PPP’s agenda for change.
“The PPP job to canvass votes start from today, all we have to do is to broadcast the PPP’s message for change ….,” Miss Lokko told the polling station executives.
The party’s chairman, Mr. Allottey Brew-Hammond, also urged them to exhibit a life worthy of the party and abstain from the politics of insults but rather campaign on issues. “…be committed to peace, abstain from the politics of insults and abide by the PPP policy of embarking on campaign of issues instead of campaign of insults…”, he said.
