The exhibition of the biometric voters register started smoothly but at a slow pace at Hohoe and its environs in the Volta Region.

At the E.P Primary “A” at Ahado, there was no queue and only 15 voters had verified their voting particulars by 1030 hours. About 2,400 names are on the voters register in that centre.

Again at the Saint Teresa Centre, only 18 people had come to check their details in the voters register as 1045 hours.

Mr. Wilberforce Drai, the exhibition officer, said the exhibition exercise of the voters’ register was usually characterized by low attendance from the beginning but expressed the hope that the situation would improve.

Mr. Kwabena Karikari, Hohoe Municipal Electoral Officer, said his outfit would begin a conscious public awareness outreach to whip-up interest in the exercise. He urged the voting public to patronise the exhibition exercise as a first step to guarantee voting in the impending exercise.

Mr. Karikari said Hohoe North and Hohoe South had a total of 116 and 68 exhibition centres respectively.

The Electoral Commission conducted a nationwide biometric registration from March 24th to May 5th this year, which 13 million eligible voters registered. The register will enable qualified voters to exercise their franchise in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections in December.

The exhibition exercise will last for ten days
