Sunyani, Nov. 20, GNA - Teaming supporters of NPP party in the Brong Ahafo Region on Saturday defied a heavy downpour at the party's first Regional rally organised at the Kwame Nkrumah Park in Sunyani.

President John Agyekum Kufuor, Presidential Candidate of the party overwhelmed by the attitude of the people said, "Your support today has been outstanding for defying the rains to listen to us."
He said there would be a massive win for the party in the 2004 elections that would bring unity among Ghanaians because such a massive votes for the NPP to continue with the Positive Change Chapter Two would actually deepen democracy in Ghana.
He said the Government would not discriminate against anyone, "Ghanaians belong to one country with one destiny to develop their country."
President Kufuor pledged the government's commitment not to harass, intimidate or victimise anybody but rule according to the dictates of the country's Constitution.
Mr. Yaw Osafo Maafo, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, said within the past four years Ghanaians had seen the performance of the two leading political parties in the country and would renew the mandate for the NPP to steer the country to progress and development. He said the socio-economic foundation would be consolidated and during its second tenure of office Ghana would retain its lost glory.
Mr. Stephen Ntim, First National Vice Chairman of the party appealed to members and supporters to be wary of provocative acts by opponents to undermine the elections on the polling day, so as to ensure peaceful, free and fair elections.
