Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ade Coker has suggested that, considering persons elected as national executives, those contesting former President Mahama for the presidential slot should throw in the towel.

According to Mr. Coker, who was speaking on 3FM Sunrise morning show on Monday, all indications show that the former president is the right person to lead the party to victory in the 2020 elections.

He likened President Mahama to a “ripped orange” among the contestants.

Some 9,000 delegates converged at the Fantasy Dome at Trade Fair in Accra in a two-day electoral process that saw Johnson Asiedu Nketia retaining his position as the party’s General Secretary while the Chairmanship slot went to Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.

Most of the people who were elected at the NDC’s delegates conference were said to be aligned to the former president.

Addressing the issue of whether or not the caliber of people who won during the just ended executives election further cements the assertion that the presidential candidate race is a walk in the park for former President John Dramani Mahama, Mr. Ade Coker insisted that the signs are clear for all to see.

He noted that it is obvious Mr. Mahama will help the NDC achieve what they have set out to achieve as a party.

“If I was one of the candidates who were competing with him, I would have seen the writing on the wall and made a decision. My decision is that Mahama will take us to where we want to go,” Ade Coker told Sunrise host, Winston Amoah.

The likes of former UPSA Vice Chancellor, Joshua Alabi; former Trade and Industry Minister, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah; Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin and many others are contesting for the NDC presidential candidate position.
