Mr George Kumi, a former Ambassador, on Tuesday congratulated Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo for his re-election to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2016 general election.

He said the landslide victory of the two times NPP presidential candidate, was an indication that majority of the party supporters were prepared to support Nana Akufo-Addo to wrest power in the general election.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview, Mr Kumi, a former Ambassador to Libya, and High Commissioner to Nigeria, under former President Kufuor’s administration, commended the delegates for the choice of Akufo-Addo.

But, he however, cautioned NPP party supporters against internal strife and wrangling, stressing that would affect the fortunes of the party in 2016.

Mr Kumi said now that the congress was over there was the need for the leadership of the NPP to initiate peace pact and be proactive enough in finding lasting solutions to the perceived factionalism in the party.

He emphasized that the “win for Nana Akufo-Addo is a win for all”, and advised members and supporters of the party, to promote a united front and tackle the diverse problems that blocked the hopes and aspirations of the party in Elections 2008-2012.

Mr Kumi observed that current economic situation in the country had provided the NPP a platform to intensify its campaign, by selling the ideologies and philosophies of the party to the electorate.
