Former Managing Director (MD) of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company (BOST) Mr. Alfred Obeng Boateng may be contesting the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai parliamentary seat on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) when the party opens nomination for the 2020 polls.

This follows a call on him by constituents and several opinion leaders to represent them in Parliament.

Responding to the calls at a press conference held at Sefwi-Subre Nkwanta in the constituency, Mr. Alfred Obeng accepted to join active politics to enable him do more for the people of the area.

"I will join politics not because of wealth but just to also fight for the development of the region and my constituency as compared to others", he told NPP supporters and loved ones.

The government on June 5, this year dismissed the former MD of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company, Mr Alfred Obeng Boateng through a letter signed by the Executive Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante.

BOST was heavily criticized last year for selling 5 million litres of contaminated fuel to two unlicensed companies, Movepiina and Zup Oil, which were allegedly set up few days before the sale making Ghana lose about GHc 7 million in revenue.

Following the alleged sale of the contaminated fuel, many individuals, as well as institutions, including the Minority in Parliament and the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), called for the dismissal of Mr Obeng-Boateng.
