Aspiring Member of Parliament elect for the Ledzokuku Constituency, Benita Sena Okitey Duah hopes to work hand in hand with incumbent MP for Ledzokuku who she beat in the NDC¹ just ended primaries.
Benita, who is a former Ms Ghana said her service to the NDC in the constituency as its women¹s organizer had propelled her to the win.
She said she will concentrate her efforts at building a united front for the NDC to retain the Ledzekuku seat in 2012.
³I saw the wind blowing for a change and I saw it wise to contest. I knew the women and the youth were yearning for me to come and help them because of the work I have been doing in the constituency².
³I was the women¹s organizer for the constituency so I was working closely with the delegates. They had so much trust and confidence in me, and knew when I move up, I¹ll do so much for them and the constituency².
³My desire to build capacity among the peopleŠ we need to be very united. I¹m going to work with my other colleague, and together, we will build a strong team and build up the party structures, help the party people and work hard to retain the seat².
Meanwhile, the defeated Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo Constituency, Nii Tackie Commey says he respects the verdict of the delegates.
Even though his loss comes as a surprise, Nii Tackie Commey tells Xfm 95.1, he takes it in good faith.
³The delegates voted me in 2005 and 2008, and if for 2012, they decide that they want a change, I stand by that verdict and I¹m very grateful to them. I take it in good faith, because, it is the people who elect their leader. I was a bit surprise by the margin though, but I stand by it².
³I wouldn¹t like to go into the merit and demerit of the elections; the elections are over and the delegates have decided. I am NDC today; I¹ll be NDC tomorrow and forever².
