The death has been reported of the former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Dafiama-Bussie-Issa, Hon. Mathias Asuma Puozaa.
The retired educationist passed away at the age of 76 at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, where he was receiving treatment, according to close family sources.
He was first elected into office in the 2004 General Elections and became a member of Parliament in January 2005 on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress.
He served three terms in office and left in January 2017. During his time in parliament, he was the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education.
Asuma was born on January 10, 1948.
He was a native of Touri-Daffiama, a town in the Upper West Region of Ghana, and an alumnus of the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, where he obtained his Master of Science degree in Community Education.
The bereaved family has yet to announce details of his funeral arrangements.
