The national chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says he does not believe the evening encounters by the IEA will change much so far as the NPP’s electoral fortunes are concerned.
Political parties with representation in parliament are expected to take their turn at the event in the coming weeks.
The programme will afford them the opportunity to explain their policies and programmes to Ghanaians prior to the 2016 polls.
But speaking to 3FM news, Mr Freddy Blay says he doubts this event could influence the NPP’s fortunes.
“This can’t be a real thing, a 30 minute speech that you deliver, and if you are not careful it will be pledges… definitely we wouldn’t say that within this 30-minute you want to sit here or stand on the platform and tell Ghanaians that you have the magic wand to solve the problems of this country.”
The first edition of the IEA Evening encounter with Presidential Candidates was held Tuesday with Dr. Edward Mahama of the People’s National Convention.
NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo is yet to take his turn at the evening encounter.
