Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), at the weekend issued a Christmas message of love and peace to Ghanaians for living as united people under the banner of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
A statement issued by Apostle Dr Opoku Onyinah, President of GPCC and copied to Ghana News Agency in Accra said: “Though there were challenges in 2012, our Living God once again proved Himself faithful to us.”
It said the Council’s theme for 2012: “Walking in the Steps of Christ” focused on the subject of discipleship in the Ghanaian Church.
“ We raised the issue that the abused suffered by Ghanaians, and especially those who call themselves Christians in the hands of self-acclaimed prophets, reveal the immaturity of believers in our dear country.
“The teachings on discipleship throughout the year have in a way, opened the gate for our members to demonstrate Christ-like character, which happens to the Council’s theme for... 2013, “the statement said.
It said while considering the 2012 theme, the Council demonstrated the love of God to humanity through the provision of social services, recognised the role the Council could play as Ghanaians went to the polls on December 7, to elect a President and Parliamentarians.
“The Council then came up with a social programme entitled, ’Promoting Peace, Love, Unity and Stability (PLUS) in the 2012 General Election”, which was supported by STAR-Ghana (Multi-donor pooled body) and other organisations.
“We appreciate so much the support enjoyed from Member Churches across the country when the PLUS Ghana Project was implemented. Through campaign, sensitisation, advocacy and effective prayer, the message of peace sung into the heart of our numerous members and the Ghanaian populace, which resulted in the peaceful elections on December 7, 2012.
“GPCC wishes to take this opportunity to remind her numerous members to remain peaceful, united, and in love, and eschew all form of violence, to ensure stability as we remember the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
“Once again we wish to say that joy resounds in the hearts of those who believe in the miracle of Christmas! May this miracle of the birth of a Saviour (bring) within your heart all the good tidings that come with the season. Wishing you the peace, joy and love of the season and in the New Year,” the statement said.
