The leader and Chairman of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Dr. Edmund Delle has hinted that the General Secretary of the party, Prof. Nii Noi Dowuona might be sanctioned if he continues to take part in the "Wahala" demonstrations organised by the Committee for Joint Action (CJA).
Although the CPP has disassociated itself from the demonstrations against fuel price increments, the General Secretary of the party has taken active part in the protests against government. Dr. Delle, who was speaking on the Citi breakfast show this morning, however reiterated his party's position on the "Wahala" demonstrations, adding that the party has advised Prof. Dowuona against his continued participation in the "Wahala" demonstrations.
Dr. Delle indicated that the subject matter of the demonstrations had not even come up at the Central Committee level of the party, noting that he was surprised when he was called upon to join in the demonstrations.
According to him, he could not attend the demonstrations in his personal capacity even if he wanted to, as the party had not officially decided to participate. In a related issue, a leading member of CPP, Dr. Vladimir Antwi Danso has described the "Wahala" demonstrations organised by the CJA as unnecessary.
Dr. Antwi Danso who was also speaking on the CITI BREAKFAST SHOW, said the involvement of some Nkrumaists and CPP functionaries in the demonstrations, does not help the cause of the party.
