Communications director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asokwa Constituency says the deepening harsh economic conditions coupled with the erratic power supply is a manifestation of the NDC government’s incompetence.
Edmund Kyei, speaking to this reporter on a wide range of issues, could not comprehend why the President John Mahama led-administration has done little to remove the bottlenecks hampering the country’s socio economic growth.
According to him, the fuel price hikes which has led to astronomical surge in transportation fares and other supplies recently is a wake up call for the citizenry to vote the National Democratic Congress administration out in 2016.
Mr Kyei’s comment is on the back of a recent hike in utility and fuel prices, announced ahead of July 1 by the Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission (PURC).
He added: “We are grappled with increases of fuel price every two weeks and all what government is telling us is that the decision to increase fuel prices is made by the Oil Marketing Companies.
“…and as for electricity supply the least said about it the better,” Mr Kyei lamented.
In his estimation, Ghana would be plunged into deeper economic mess if the flag bearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo is overlooked by the electorates in the impending 2016 election.
Mr Kyei intimates that the current state of affairs requires competent and visionary leader like Akufo-Addo to salvage the dwindling fortunes of the economy.
Against that backdrop, he urged government to find ways of paying the one year single spine arrears of workers, stressing that those affected must hit the streets should government fails to pay their salary arrears.
