The Minority in Parliament has charged President John Mahama to conduct an introspection of himself and his cabinet to appreciate why Ghanaians have become cynical to his promises.
Delivering the Minority’s ‘true state of the Nation address’ in Accra Monday, Minority leader Osei Kyei Mensa-Bonsu said the several failed promises of the government has depleted public confidence in the system.
President Mahama in his 3rd State of the Nation Address to parliament two weeks ago bemoaned the cynicism in the Ghanaian society. He urged Ghanaians to be positive about the prospects of the nation if it were to achieve its set objectives and targets.
But in reaction, the minority said the President’s inability to fulfil his own pledges has contributed to the situation.
“As for the cynicism that the President implored the nation to purge ourselves of, he must do serious introspection.
“From the Presidency through the cabinet, ministers, communicators and activists ; the litany of pledges and assurances that they have given and not been able to deliver, why should Ghanaians not have cause to disbelieve them?
“It all looks like they all resort to an assortment of promises and not caring too much about how to redeem those contractual obligations; after all they have ghost, dwarfs and opposition elements to blame when they cannot deliver,” the Suame MP stated.
