Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, the Chairman of the NPP National Council of Elders, has expressed confidence that the New Patriotic Party will emerge victorious in the December 7 elections despite the current economic challenges.
Speaking in an interview on Monday, November 25, 2024, the political stalwart stated that the performance of the NPP government during its 8 years in power across every sector is sufficient to convince the electorate to vote them back into office.
“... graduating, so to speak, from COVID-19, where we are, there are a whole lot of problems, and there have been difficulties as far as the economy is concerned. Especially those in the urban areas, there are problems which we must tackle, so, if you say vote wisely based on your current living conditions, you must look at where you are. On the other hand, the totality of what has been done nationwide is way beyond the time where we thought we had a slogan that was sailable that we could use,” he said.
Despite acknowledging the economic difficulties in the country, Owusu-Agyemang emphasised that these challenges will not affect their chances of winning.
The former New Juaben MP noted that difficult situations and challenges are inevitable in any human institution, and Ghana is no different.
He urged Ghanaians to consider and trust in the abilities of the NPP to guide the nation out of its current predicaments.
“I agree people would have to consider their living conditions to vote wisely, but the bottom line is if this nation is moving forward, and indeed it is moving forward, then people must also recognise the fact that there are and will be difficult situations and up and downs in any human institution or organisation.
“It is not always a pedestal which goes which goes without a bit of a dip, and this is a little bit of a dip, but I believe that when you sum up the totality of everything, they will still vote for NPP despite their situations,” he added.
