Agona Swedru, Jan 14, GNA- Mr Bede Ziedeng, Deputy General Secretary, Operations of the Democratic Freedom Party(DFP) has stated that Ghanaians are not ready to give back political power to the minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) in December Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

He said the defeat NDC suffered in 2000 and 2004 indications were clear for every body to see that Ghanaians have rejected the party due to many reasons.

Mr Ziedeng made this observations at the launching of Agona West and East Constituencies executives of the party at Agona Swedru at the weekend.

He noted that the people of this country had gone through a bitter experience under the NDC rule and there was no way they would go back again, adding that Ghanaians are peace loving and they would not like to suffer.

Mr Ziedeng said threats and intimidations being given by some leaders NDC in the forthcoming elections would not allow the people to offer them the mandate to rule the country. He said the people have tasted the rule of NDC and NPP and they would opt for DFP to promote peace and stability. The Deputy General Secretary said DFP would go to congress to choose national, regional and constituency executives early this year in order to adopt effective strategies to run the party.

Dr Obed Yao Asamoah, Patron of the party said there was the need to change the culture and attitude of Ghanaian politics to promote peace and tranquillity.

He lauded NPP government for prudent macro economy and stability of the Ghana cedi against major foreign currencies, adding that when NDC was in power the rate at which the cedi was falling cannot be compared to the eight years rule of NPP.

Dr Asamoah said the only problem NPP has not been able to solve was the unemployment confronting Ghanaian youth.

The DFP Patron stated that the collapse of local industries, especially poultry farms where trade liberalization has allowed influx of foreign poultry products into the country was a great worrying and urged the government to tackle the issue.

He called on the people to reject NPP and NDC in the 2008 elections and there would be an absolute peace in Ghanaian politics. Dr Asamoah asked Ghanaians to change their attitudes towards political landscape where people demand money before exercising their franchise because the person would not reciprocate the services rendered. Mr John Ameka, Deputy General Secretary Finance and Administration of the party said DFP was working hard to take the Parliamentary seats both "east and west" from the ruling NPP in December elections. He urged the members of the party to work hard to win more supporters to strengthen the structures at the grassroots.
