The Gomoa West District Assembly has undertaken 110 projects in three years out of which 77 have been completed.

Mr. Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, District Chief Executive (DCE), who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency in Apam said the projects which formed part of the government’s Better Ghana Agenda were meant to improve the people’s standard of living.

He gave the breakdown of the funding agents as Social Investment Fund (SIF), 31 projects, District Development Fund (DDF), 20 projects, District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), 20 projects, GETFund, 19 projects, Local Government Service Development Project (LGSDP), 9, Community-Based Rural Development Project (CBRDP) 6 and Government of Ghana (GOG), 5.

The DCE said award of projects on contract had been suspended due to government’s directive for on-going projects to be completed before the start of new ones.

He mentioned projects the assembly had undertaken as school infrastructure, water and sanitation, health facilities, roads, electricity, markets, rehabilitation of the District Administration block and renovation of staff quarters.

Mr. Aidoo-Mensah said the projects were unprecedented in the history of the district and urged the people to reciprocate the government’s gesture by voting massively to return it to power, come December 7.

He said if election was about bringing development to the people, then there was no need to change President Mills’ led National Democratic Congress (NDC) Government, which had performed creditably in its three and a half years administration.

We don’t bite a finger which feeds you,” the DCE said and called on Ghanaians to rally behind the government for more projects.**
