Gomoa Tarkwa, C/R, Feb 7, GNA - Two applicants for the position of District Chief Executive for Gomoa District have denied that Mr Benjamin Afful, Gomoa West Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), demanded a bribe of 30 million cedis from them.

Speaking to the GNA Ms Joyce Aidoo, Acting District Chief Executive and Mr Fred Oscar Abban, Presiding Member of the Gomoa District Assembly and Assistant Headmaster of the Dawurampong Secondary Technical School, two of the applicants, denied reports in a section of the media that Mr Afful had demanded 30 million cedis bribe from prospective applicants for the position of District Chief Executive.

Mr Fred Williams Adoku, Managing Director of NADO Wood Company in Takoradi and Mrs Ekuah Gyamfiwa Konadu Ampratum, Assistant Headmistress of Dawurampong Secondary Technical School, the other two applicants, could, however, not be reached to comment on the alleged demand of bribe.

Mr Afful denied reports in a section of the media that he had demanded 30 million cedis from applicants, who are vying for the position of the District Chief Executive.

He said so far only the four applicants had submitted their curriculum vitae for consideration for the highest post in the District. Mr Afful said the alleged demand of 30 million cedis bribe being levelled against him was a calculated attempt to dent his image.

He said the Constituency Office of the Party was widely open to any applicant wishing to apply for the District Chief Executive position, adding that he had never requested a cedi from any of the applicants from the Gomoa West Constituency.

Mr Afful also denied allegation that he had sacked 50 New Patriotic Party (NPP) members from the Gomoa West Constituency without the consent of the Central Regional and National Executives of the Party. He said the NPP understood democracy and he would not do anything that would go contrary to the Constitution of the Party.
