Augustus Goosie Tanoh, Chairman of the NDC Manifesto Committee, has criticised the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for its claim of creating over two million jobs since assuming office.

Speaking during an interview on TV3’s Hot Issues with Kemenni Amaor, Goosie Tanoh pledged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC), if voted into power, will focus on addressing unemployment by creating approximately 1.7 million jobs over the next four years.

“We are committed to creating about 431,000 jobs annually because, on average, 308,000 people join the workforce every year, but only about 123,000 secure employment,” he explained.

“This leaves a significant number of Ghanaians jobless, and the NDC will tackle this issue head-on.”

Criticising the current government’s approach to job creation, Goosie Tanoh expressed doubts about the NPP’s reported achievements in this area. He dismissed the claim of two million jobs as baseless and lacking credible data.

“I don’t know where the NPP got these numbers from. I don’t know if they have a secret ‘ statistics room’ in their bedroom,” he remarked.

“These figures are completely fabricated. The so-called two million jobs are nothing but fancy and imaginary numbers.”

Goosie Tanoh underscored the NDC’s commitment to presenting realistic and achievable solutions to unemployment, emphasising the party’s reliance on verifiable data and practical strategies to uplift Ghanaians from joblessness.
