A leading member of pressure group #OccupyGhana, Sydney Casely-Hayford has alleged that the Mahama-led administration is targeting and victimising members of the group.

According to him, there are deliberate attempts by the government to “fault” and destroy the organisation.

#OccupyGhana, which is made up of mainly people believed to be in the middle and upper class of the Ghanaian society, has been at the forefront of the fight against corruption over the last few months.

The group has, however, been accused of hiding behind the perception of corruption in the country to attack the Mahama-led administration.

Speaking on ‘Time with David’, which is back after a long lull, Sunday, Casely-Hayford said the members of the group are putting their lives at risk in their determination to promote good governance in the country.

“….We are doing this and actually opening ourselves to victimisation and we [are] already being victimised.

“We already have government trying to stop us, and trying to fault us and trying to destroy the little things that we are trying to put in place in order to carry on.

“Because they can see that what we are doing is going to enable the masses to actually be a part of it,” he stated.
