The coalition of Volta Clergy, a Think-Tank made up of pastors and bishops in the Volta Region has commended government for the show of “seriousness” and “determination” to ‘fast-track’ the socio-economic development of the country.

It said with just a year in power, the government had demonstrated its “faithfulness” and commitment to fulfilling campaign promises, an indication of a “good beginning of better things to come.”

Mr King David Akpabli, Coordinator of the coalition at a press conference to review the government’s one year in power, said the “timely fulfillment” of the free Senior High School promise, removal of taxes, restoration of nurses and teacher trainees’ allowances, One District, One Factory and the appointment of a Special Prosecutor to fight corruption showed that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was in “hurry to develop Ghana.”

He said interventions such as planting for food and jobs and the fight against illegal mining, all showed the “seriousness” and commitment of government to addressing challenges of the country.

Mr Akpabli said though there were some concerns within the period, notably, activities of vigilante groups, indications were that, “the finest of this government is yet to be seen in the coming years,” and called for support from the citizenry.
