Government supports Mamprugu overlord after fire at Palace

Government through the National Disaster Management Organization(NADMO) has donated some relief items to the overlord of the Mamprugu Kingdom Nayiri, Naa Bohugu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga following the fire incident at his palace a couple of weeks ago.

The Northern Regional minister Salifu Sa-eed and the Coordinator of NADMO Nana Agyeman Prempeh on Saturday presented the relief items to the Nayiri on behalf of the government.

The items presented included; 50 bags of rice , 10 cartons of cooking oil, 5 cartons of soap, I bale of poly mats , 150 pieces of mosquito nets, 2 cartons of mosquito coil and an undisclosed amount of money.

Salifu Sa-eed informed the King of plans by government to rebuild the palace to high standards maintaining that the Nayiri is a father for all and his Excellency the President was poised to ensure that he becomes comfortable to continue to provide great leadership

The NADMO boss on his part revealed that the President was saddened by the disaster and immediately instructed that support be extended to the king whom he described as a good friend.

The king through one of his council members expressed profound joy and gratitude to government and prayed for the government to continue its good works.

It would be recalled that several belongings of the King in his bedroom estimated at several thousands of Ghana Cedis were lost to the fire which is believed to have been caused by power surge.

It took the timely intervention of fire service personnel of the Ghana National Fire service to save other rooms from in the palace from catching fire it but has been established that everything in the chief’s room has been burnt beyond recognition.
