President John Dramani Mahama on Monday announced that government would construct a new interchange at the Kasoa township to ease the daily traffic jams that commuters experience the area.
President Mahama said his attention had been drawn to the heavy traffic congestion the people of Kasoa had been going through since the completion of the Mallam junction flyover, and government would duly provide the necessary funding for the project to commence.
President Mahama announced this when he addressed party members at Kasoa on his way to Agona Swedru to attend the Cocoa Producers Alliance (COPAL) meeting Before the arrival of the President, the party members thronged the principal streets to cheer and catch a glimpse of him amidst singing, drumming and dancing ,while wielding miniature flags and other party paraphernalia of the National Democratic congress (NDC).
He said a modern Senior High School would also be constructed at Kasoa to absorb Junior High School graduates from the town and its surrounding areas.
“Some people are promising free Senior High School education, but the question I want to ask is; if we do not have the schools how can we give free education to them on the streets?”
President Mahama called on all NDC Party members to sacrifice a little bit during the campaign by helping in the distribution of party posters and other paraphernalia through the door-to-door campaign programmes.
He cautioned the party members against voting ‘skirt and blouse’ as that had the potential of derailing the party’s development agenda after the elections.
President Mahama also made similar stops at Odupong-Ofakor through Bawjiase to Agona Swedru, all in the Central Region.
Mr. Alex Mustapha, Presiding Member for the Awutu Senya East District Assembly appealed to government to upgrade the local Clinic to a district hospital as the clinic could no longer took care of the over 200,000 people in the area.
He gave the assurance that the people of Kasoa would continue to throw their support behind the NDC government on account of the visionary leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.
“We are so grateful for the interaction, and I can assure you and the leadership of the party that we shall vote massively for the NDC in the 2012 general election."
