Grand Coalition regularizes its papers with EC

Accra, Oct. 25, GNA - The Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates of the Grand Coalition on Monday regularized the filing of their nomination papers with the Electoral Commission (EC) to enable them to contest Election 2004.

The EC last Thursday gave the Coalition comprising the People's National Convention (PNC); Every Ghanaian Living Everywhere (EGLE) Party and Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) up to 1700 hours on Monday to regularize anomalies on its nomination papers.


Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan, Chairman of EC, who received of the original income tax certificates bearing the names of Dr Edward Mahama and Mr Dan Ofori-Atta, Presidential Candidate and Running Mate, respectively, of the Coalition, between 1530 hours and 1545 hours on Monday, expressed satisfaction with them.


He also showed to Journalists the corrected nomination forms and signed them to confirm the EC's acceptance and satisfaction with the papers.

Speaking on behalf of the Coalition, Mr Gabriel Pwamang, General Secretary of the PNC, expressed satisfaction for being able to complete their papers and said the problem mainly emanated from the branches in some regions.


As a result they presented photocopies of papers from those regions at the day of filing of nominations, he said. Mr Pwamang announced that their campaign would be launched in the first week of November in Bolgatanga.
