Greater Accra Regional Executives of PNC drag six to court

Accra, Nov. 1, GNA - The Greater Accra Regional Executives of the Peoples' National Convention (PNC) on Thursday took court action against six of its National Executives for flouting the directives of the party's constitution.

Mr Ebenezer Abbah Halm-Quartey, Regional Chairman and Hadjia Fati Ibrahim, Vice Treasurer filed the suit in their respective capacities as Regional Executive members and on behalf of the Greater Accra Regional Executives of the party.

The six were Gabriel Pwamang, Dr Edward Nasigre Mahama, Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan, Alhaji Abdul-Moomin, Robert Baah and Abdiel Godly Baba Ali, all at the PNC headquarters.

Mr Halm-Quartey, addressing a press conference said, for some time now Mr Pwamang had been holding himself as the General Secretary of the party without an appointment by the National Executive Council (NEC) and thereby causing confusion in the party. He said according to the Constitution of the party it was NEC, which had to appoint people to that position and not through an election. "Mr Pwamang is going round, hand-picking people to represent the region in their Constituencies and regional Conferences without notifying the Regional Executives whose mandate it was to organise such conferences," he said.

He said many attempts to call NEC meeting to either appoint or reject Mr Pwamang was futile because Dr Mahama single-handedly support him and was always 'playing games' with the NEC. "We expect that after running on the ticket of the party as the presidential aspirant for three consecutive times, Dr Mahama who should be the one to hold our constitution in higher esteem was rather flouting the directives for his own personal interest.
