Pressure group, Volunteers for Nduom 2016 (VN2016,) has called on the 2012 flag-bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP,) Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, to lead the PPP in the 2016 General Elections.
Addressing a press conference at the Asylum Down headquarters of party yesterday in Accra, the National Coordinator of VN2016, Richard Nii Armah Nkunim, urged the youth in the country, especially those in the PPP, to join them to champion the course of Nduom’s presidency in 2016.
According to him, their decision to ask Dr. Nduom to lead the PPP again in 2016 was because the group believed in his (Dr. Nduom’s) leadership qualities.
He said: “we have come together to support, embark on campaigns, organise events and raise funds to support Dr. Nduom to run as flag-bearer for the PPP.”
The VN2016 national coordinator asserted that the prevailing economic conditions in the country coupled with erratic power supply required a leader who has foresight to turn things around.
And that person, Nii Armah contended, is Dr. Nduom, describing him as “tested and tried” politician and business man.
He could not understand why the Mahama-led administration would spend huge sums of money on V8 vehicles while there were no incubators in most of the government hospitals.
“…Ghana has been unnecessarily mismanaged and I’m using these words, because, it is said that “in the abundance of water the fool is thirsty,” he said.
Mr. Armah decried the situation where graduates from the universities and polytechnics hardly get jobs to do.
That, he said, was not the fault of those graduates but the poor economic environment superintended by the Mahama administration.
He blamed the president for the hardship; many Ghanaians were going through attributing it to President Mahama’s inability to solve the dumsor problem which has forced many companies to fold up.
To this end, while the group appealed to Dr. Nduom to accept their offer to lead the PPP in the 2016 polls, they also called on the good people of Ghana not to waste their votes on either the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
