An NDC group, calling themselves Concerned Future Leaders of Brong Ahafo has angrily reacted to a press release by the Brong Ahafo Busia Foundation on the intended removal of the statute of Busia at the Jubilee Park at Sunyani.

According to the group the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) intends to erect busts at the place in honour of some chiefs of the Brong Ahafo Region who contributed in the creation of the region and the first president of the country, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah for creating the region.

These was contained in a statements signed by the Organizer of the Group, Mr. Dennis Yeboah Twumasi in Sunyani.

The release mentioned the chiefs as, Nana Akunfi Ameyaw of Techiman, Dr. Agyemang Badu, Nana Bosea Gyanantwi, Nana Yaw Frimpong, Nana Fosu Gyeabour, Nana Kwame Agyemang and Nana Kwasi Apraku Ameyaw

The release recounted the historical background of the region and said when the region was being carved from the Ashanti Region, some chiefs in the region and the late Prof. Busia objected to it.

According to the group, they have an insider information that the statute of Busia when removed will be place in one of the roundabouts in Sunyani. The press stated took on the late Busia in an uncharitable manner and continued that the NPP has no good intention for the region.

It will be recalled that the Busia foundation called a press conference to denounce the intended removal of the statute of Busia. The Foundation has since taken the matter to court.

The statement called on friends from Brong Ahafo Caucus of the opposition NPP and its allies to desist from doing anything terrible to undermine the credibility of the region and the RCC during the celebration of Brong Ahafo @ 50.
