Adansi-Asokwa (Ash), Feb 10, GNA - The Member of Parliament for Adansi-Asokwa, Mr K.T. Hammond, has expressed gratitude to his constituents for giving him another mandate to represent them in parliament. Speaking to newsmen at Asokwa, Mr Hammond, who is the acting Deputy Minister of Energy, noted that the way the electorate voted for him and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency was an indication of the people's satisfaction with the work of the party over the past four years.

The MP was particularly happy that the constituency was gradually becoming the stronghold of the NPP. "Since 1992, the Adansi-Asokwa constituency had been won by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) until 2000 when I conquered them. But now the constituency is gradually becoming our stronghold having won the 2000 and 2004 elections", he said. Mr Hammond said the new pattern of voting in the area was as a result of the way he and the NPP government served the people within the last four years.

The acting Deputy Minister gave the assurance that the government would continue to assist in the development of the constituency. "So long as the NPP is in power and I remain your MP, development would be a must." Mr Hammond appealed to the people to team up and support the government so that the pace of development in the area could be quickened. He pointed out that with the elections over, the need for the people in the constituency to avoid partisanship and unite for progress was paramount.

The MP said he would continue to focus on education, health and the general improvement of the lives of the people during the four years ahead. Mr Hammond further indicated that he would maintain his regular visits to the constituency and also explain government policies and programmes to them so that they would become abreast with the government's Positive Change Chapter Two strategy.
