Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu and Member of Parliament(MP) for Tamale South is determined help reclaim the Savelugu seat for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Northern Region.
The NDC lost the seat which is one of their traditional seats in the region to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following unresolved political disagreements being fallout from the constituency parliamentary primaries that saw the exit of Hajia Mary Salifu Boforo.
Checks revealed that the emergence of an independent candidate from the NDC because the person felt disgruntled after the primaries paved the way for the NPP to win the seat.
Haruna Iddrisu, has however resolved that the party is poised to regain all or some of the parliamentary seats it lost in the 2016 general election in the Northern Region.
He mentioned that the parliamentary seats that the party was likely to regain as Savelugu, Nanton, Saboba, Tolon, Wulensi, Bimbilla and Gushegu which the party lost to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2016 general election.
To ensure that this is not an exercise in futility, the Tamale South lawmaker has presented a Tundra Pick-Up to Savelugu Constituency to aid the Parliamentary Candidate, as well as the executives run their day-to-day activities in order to solidify the grounds in order to reclaim the seat.
